Feb. 26, 2013: A routine traffic stop turned into a 3 county 75 mile high speed pursuit that started in Bertram and ended in Mason, Texas. The pursuit involved officers from several law enforcement agencies and reached speeds over 100 miles per hour at times. Officers from Llano County attempted to spike the tires at Hwy 29 and CR 202 but were not successful and the pursuit continued through Llano with about 20 patrol cars in the chase. Traffic was stopped at the intersection of Bessemer and Young to avoid any accidents. As the suspect headed to Mason he called 911 and was on the phone with Llano County dispatchers. As the suspect went through Mason he was waving at people along the roads. The suspect made a u turn just west of Mason and headed back east bound. As he was traveling east Mason Law Enforcement officers shot out his tires which slowed him down enough so Sheriff Blackburn could get into position to pit the suspect bring the pursuit to an end in the parking lot of Short Stop convenience store. The suspect was taken into custody shortly before 10:00 PM.
